Auckland | 17th February 2025 – The New Zealand government is launching a new campaign aimed at attracting Australian tourists to the country. Tourism and Hospitality Minister Hon Louise Upston announced that the campaign, which will begin in the coming week, highlights the government’s dedication to boosting international tourism and economic growth.
Minister Upston expressed enthusiasm for welcoming Australian visitors to New Zealand, where they can experience local hospitality and enjoy unique Kiwi experiences. She emphasized the significant role tourism plays in New Zealand’s economy, contributing nearly $38 billion in domestic and international tourism expenditure and supporting almost 200,000 jobs.
The campaign, funded by $500,000 from the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy, aims to increase Australian visitor numbers, which are currently at about 88 percent of 2019 levels. The initiative is part of the government’s broader Tourism Boost program, designed to stimulate immediate growth in visitor numbers and economic activity.
Minister Upston highlighted that the campaign’s message to Australians is that New Zealand is open for business with attractive deals available. The tagline “Everyone must go” reinforces New Zealand’s status as a must-visit destination, ready to welcome more Australian tourists.

Recent figures show a rise in Australian arrivals in New Zealand, from 1.27 million to 1.36 million over the past year, with room for further growth. The campaign is also aligned with the government’s “Going For Growth” initiative, aimed at addressing growth challenges and unlocking New Zealand’s potential. Minister Upston reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting businesses and fostering long-term tourism growth.
